Why Our Body Pains After Workout?

Why do I feel pain after exercise? or Why does my body ache after exercise?.. It is the most common question which tweaks the minds of people who have just begin to exercise or who overdo some exercise or their gym schedule out of there estimated strength and power. We should workout only in our limits, learning our body strengths and weaknesses as we proceed. Go Slow -It is the first important key as we begin a regular exercise schedule.

We-also-know-No-pain-No-gainWe also know `No Pain, No Gain’ is the exercise motto of everyone who wants to be fit and gain some Muscle Mass. Standing out in the league in building Biceps, Triceps, Making some Abs or Gaining Weight requires patience . Also, right knowledge of how much you can endure is important. Quitting when a little muscle pain arises won’t help much. So you need to know answer of the following questions in order to know that it is natural to feel pain after exercise. These questions will give you a brief insight.These are as follows-

1- What is cause of Muscle Soreness?

2- Why are Muscles sore after a workout?

3- How do you get your Muscle Soreness?

4- Are sore muscles a Good Sign?

5- How to ease muscle pain after Exercise?

Let us answer each of the questions step by step to make ourselves aware of why our body pains after workout? So to start with `why a tough workout leads to aching muscles?’ or what is the cause of muscle soreness?

Muscle pain is due to muscle soreness that develops after beginning to include exercise in your new schedule or starting all over a new exercise. Muscle soreness is the natural effect of exercising or working out and can remain up to two days. The technical term for muscle soreness after workout is known as DOMS.DOMS is the acronym for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.

The second question is ` Why are muscles sore after a workout?

The real reason for DOMS is the microscopic damage to muscle fibers. When we incorporate a new exercise schedule in our routine, our muscles are not adapted to this so by causing microscopic damages and thereby building new cells and repairing old cells –our muscles get adapted to it and in the whole process, it causes muscle soreness.

The good thing about muscle soreness is that it goes on it is own after three days. Symptoms of muscle soreness include weakness, pain and stiffness. And, as your body becomes adapted and your muscles get the habit of working with same intensity, episodes of DOMS decrease.

 

How do you get Muscle Soreness?

Any type of overuse movement which tires away your muscles or exercises like eccentric muscle contractions which forces your muscle to contract more, most commonly cause DOMS. An eccentric muscle contraction which causes muscles to elongate in response to a force (exercise like jogging, squats, push-ups etc) is responsible for natural muscle soreness.

One important point to take home is that it’s not just you who experience muscle soreness even athletes and bodybuilders are not prone to muscle soreness.

Are sore muscles a good sign?

As your body adapts to new exercise regime or workout, you get adapted to muscle soreness episodes too. As we proceed through a particular exercise routine, the muscle fibers distribute the workload on them efficiently and effectively. Responders to the same exercise routine experience different levels of DOMS.As each body type is different, so is it strength and susceptibility to DOMS.

Muscle soreness is definitely as good sign as it indicates muscle repairing activity. In the whole process of muscle repairing activity, it also leads to protein production and muscle growth.

Other-options-includeHow to ease muscle pain after exercise?

The first prerequisite of starting any exercise regime is under guidance. Performing some movements which are new and involve extra stretching can give you DOMS, and  also if performed wrongly can lead to DOMS which can stay up to a week and then further leading to complications. Pre- and post-workout stretching is very way good way to treat DOMS.Other options include-

1- Ice packs

2- Massage with Ayurvedic oil like Dr.Ortho

3- Anti-inflammatory drugs intake like Ibuprofen

4- Rest in between (giving time for muscles to relax)

`Do not quit after an episode of muscle soreness

Without pain, no gain

Hey,my muscle soreness lasted for a week when i started doing gyming,now its better.I was not warming up before doing workout.I have also started massaging Dr.Ortho oil ,it’s really good…
