Good Food for Eyesight Improvement – If You Want to Keep Your Eyes Healthy

No doubt, the intake of a healthy diet is necessary to maintain a healthy well-being. But, did you know what we eat also impacts our eyes’ health? A perfectly balanced diet loaded with vitamins, protein, nutrients, and minerals is the key to keep eyes healthy.

A little healthy change in your daily can prevent eye problems like:

  • Cataracts, which cause cloudy vision
  • Weak eyesight at a very early age
  • Dry eyes
  • Poor night vision
  • Watery eyes, itching, and irritation in eyes

Stop the consumption of unhealthy foodstuff that is processed, high in sugar, oily, or deep-fried. Eat fruits, vegetables, grains, green leafy, milk, and dry fruits for eyes safety.

Here is the list of some food that you can add on your plate to keep your eyes healthy and problem-free.

Spinach

Spinach for Eye Sight

Green leafy vegetables are indeed efficacious to improve eyesight. So, you must eat spinach and other leafy veggies like kale, turnips, mustard leaves, swiss chard, and collard greens.

As spinach comprises lots of nutrients such as vitamin A lutein and zeaxanthin so, it comes in the category of the foods which help maintain good eyes’ health.

Vitamin A helps protect the cornea, zeaxanthin helps in improving eyesight, and lutein protects the eyes from ultraviolet light.

Eat spinach in a salad or make a delicious soup of it for wonderful benefits.

Fish

Fish for Eye Sight

Fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. So, eating fish regularly can help protect the retina from damage and prevent weak eyesight. The people who spend most of the time in front of the computer screen are more vulnerable to suffer from dry eyes, so the intake of fish could be helpful.

The fish that are rich in levels of omega-3s are:

  • Tuna
  • Sardines
  • Mackerel
  • Herring
  • Salmon
  • Trout

 Carrots

Carrot for Good Eye

Carrots are a great source of vitamin A so, helpful in preventing night blindness, protect the cells in your eyes, and help maintain a healthy and clear cornea.

Carrots are also high in fiber and potassium so, good to eat in snack, salad or you can make a tasty juice by adding beetroot for better flavor and color.

Nuts and Seeds

Eyes for Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds both are high are in omega -3 fatty acids and contain a high level of vitamins, which can protect eyes from various issues.

You must include following nuts and seeds in your diet:

  • Walnuts
  • Cashew nuts
  • Peanuts
  • Almonds
  • Chia seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Hemp seeds

Broccoli

Broccoli for Eyesight

Did you know a deficiency of vitamin B2 can make the eyes sensitive to light that further can result in inflammation and blurred vision?  Also, vitamin B2 plays an essential in preventing cataracts.

So, to mitigate the deficiency of vitamin B2, you must eat broccoli as it is rich in vitamin B2. Eat it in a salad or steam it to slightly soften if you want.

Citrus Fruit

Citrus fruits are natural antioxidants and high sources of vitamin C, and effectively help in maintaining eye health.

You can start the intake of fruits like

  • Lemons
  • Oranges
  • Grapefruits
  • Pomelo

Avocados

Avocados for eye

Intake of Avocados is great for your eyes. Avocados contain lutein that helps in preventing cataracts, macular degeneration, and other age-related eye issues.

Furthermore, they also an immense source of vitamins B6, C, and E that play an important role in protecting eyes, reduces stress on eyes and prevents blur vision.

 Eggs

Eggs for Eyesight

Being high in lutein and zeaxanthin, eggs help reduce the risk of age-related loss of eyesight. Also, eggs contain vitamin C, E, and Zinc.

Sweet Potato

Sweet Potato for Eyes

Sweet Potatoes contain vitamin A, and also high in beta-carotene, potassium, and fiber. Intake of sweet potato helps in improving eyesight, prevents cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.

If you usually complain dry eyes problem, start the intake of sweet potato. It also guards your eyes against bacterial and viral infections.

Blueberries

Blueberries for Eyes

Both blueberries and strawberries contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties so, helpful in keeping eyes healthy and away from inflammatory diseases.

You can add them to your snack time, prepare smoothies, shakes, or take in a fruit salad.
