Shoulder Pain Relief: Home Remedies and Treatments

Shoulder pain is a common problem that can affect people of all ages. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including injury, overuse, and arthritis. There are a number of home remedies and treatments that can help to relieve shoulder pain, including:

Ice or heat therapy. Applying ice or heat to the affected area for 20 minutes at a time can help to reduce inflammation and pain.

Over-the-counter pain relievers. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or naproxen, can help to reduce inflammation and pain. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can also be helpful.

Rest. Avoiding activities that aggravate the shoulder pain can help it to heal.

Stretching and strengthening exercises. Once the pain has subsided, gentle stretching and strengthening exercises can help to improve range of motion and strength in the shoulder.

Pain relief oil. Pain relief oil is a natural remedy that can help to reduce inflammation and pain. There are a variety of pain relief oils available, including peppermint oil, lavender oil, and arnica oil.

Massage therapy. Massage therapy can help to relax muscles and reduce pain.

Physical therapy. Physical therapy can help to teach you exercises and stretches to help improve your shoulder range of motion and strength.

Here are some additional tips for relieving shoulder pain:

Avoid repetitive movements. If your job or hobbies involve repetitive shoulder movements, take breaks often to rest your shoulders.
Use a heating pad or hot water bottle. Heat can help to relax muscles and reduce pain.
Get regular massages. Massage can help to improve circulation and reduce pain.
See a physical therapist. A physical therapist can teach you exercises and stretches to help improve your shoulder range of motion and strength.
