Natural Treatments You can try at Home for Gout Pain

Gout is an uncomfortable and painful suffering for the person affected. It is a type of arthritis which can affect the different parts of the body like small joints on hands, wrists, ankles or knees.

Some of the common symptoms are acute pain, swelling, intense tenderness, and inflammation in the joints. Gout is a condition which is characterized by lumpy deposits of uric acid within the body.

When the kidneys fail to excrete excess uric acid, it gets accumulated in the form of deposits. This is one prime cause of this problem. Apart from this, genetics, excessive intake of protein and alcohol, lack of physical exercise and stress too lead to this issue.

Some easy-to-do home treatments can help promote healing and provide symptom relief. Here I’m sharing some of the best remedies for gout pain which you can try at home.

Ginger :

Ginger is a source of anti-inflammatory compounds which are helpful in reducing the inflammation of joints seen in gout.

How to use it?

There are many ways to use ginger root for treatment of the gout. The number one is to eat a small and raw piece of ginger root in routine. The second option is to add one and a half tsp. Ginger root to a cup of boiling water and mix it well. Drink this solution at least one time in a day. The third option is to mix equal amounts of fenugreek, turmeric and dried ginger powder (sonth). Take one teaspoon of this mixture along with warm water two times a day.

 

Baking Soda :

One important factor which contributes to gout is an increase of uric acid in the body. Baking soda helps to reduce the amount of uric acid, thereby giving you relief from the Joint pain.

How to make use of Baking soda for Gout Treatment?

All you have to do is, mix one-half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water. Try to drink this solution four times a day but not more than that. Continue doing this for two weeks. If your age is above 60, don’t take it more than three times a day. Don’t follow this remedy if you suffer from hypertension.

 

Apple Cider Vinegar :

It is known as the magic liquid because it helps to cure several ailments including gout. The anti-inflammatory properties of this vinegar help to ease the pain and soreness. In addition, it helps to break down the deposits of uric acid.

How to use it?

All you need is one tablespoon apple cider vinegar (ACV) and a glass of water. Mix ACV in water and drink this mixture for relief and prevention. To change the taste of the drink you can add some honey to it.

 

Epsom Salt :

Epsom salt is effective in relaxing the body and the muscles. Plus, it helps to remove the toxin wastes from the body and soothes the inflamed joints. The warmth of the water is helpful in reducing the pain as well as swelling.

How to use Epsom salt for Gout Pain?

Add ½ cup of Epsom salt to the water taken in a bucket and mix it well. Then, soak your affected feet in this water for around 15-20 minutes. After this remove your feet and rinse with regular water.

 

Papaya :

The papain enzyme of papaya helps to reduce the swelling of the joints. In addition to this, it helps in quick removal of uric acid in the body by increasing the alkalinity of the body.

What do you need to do?

Take a ripe papaya, remove its seeds and cut it into pieces. Eat it as it is or by adding your favorite seasonings to it. You must eat a cup of papaya every day.

 

Lemon Juice :

This is another natural treatment you can do at home to treat the gout problem. Lemons are loaded with vitamin C and its juice helps to break down uric acid deposits by increasing the pH level of urine.

What you have to do?

Take a fresh lemon, squeeze out its juice and add it to a glass of water. You can add a little bit honey to counterbalance the acidity of lemon juice. Drink 1-2 glasses of lemon water in a day.

So, if you are suffering from gout, try these simple natural remedies to get relief from the pain and inflammation. But keep in mind, there is no quick cure. You need to be patient to treat this problem.

However, gout can be linked to some other underlying medical condition. Hence, you must consult a doctor for proper treatment.
