Effective Remedies To Get Relief From Neck Pain

The neck is made of Vertebrae, which expand from the skull to the upper torso. Cervical discs sponge up shocks between the bones.

The neck, bones, ligaments, and muscles support your head and allow it to move. Any type of injury, inflammation, or abnormality can lead to pain and stiffness in the neck.

Pain and stiffness in the neck is not something experienced very often, it occasionally occurs due to poor posture, injuries like a sudden fall, or a whiplash.

In most cases, neck pain is not permanent and with neck pain relief medicines it can be cured within a few days if received treatment alongside.

But if your neck pain lasts more than a week and is caused due to severe injury or illness, take medical help immediately.

Here are a few causes of neck pain and their remedies.

Causes of Neck pain

Neck pain can occur due to a variety of reasons

 

Muscle Strain – This happens due to some activities and behaviors such as

  • Improper posture
  • Long sitting hours
  • Sleeping with a bad positioned neck
  • Jerking your neck during rigorous exercise.

Injury –

The neck is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body and is susceptible to injuries, especially in cases of falls, car accidents, and sports injuries.

In these cases, muscles and ligaments are forced to come outside of their normal range.

If the Cervical Vertebrae(Neckbone) get damaged, the spinal cord will also be damaged and will spark more problems. And the most common injury is called Whiplash or the sudden jerk in the knees.

Heart Attack –

Neck pain could be a possible symptom of a heart attack but it also occurs with the other symptoms of a heart attack, such as:

  • Failure to catch the breath
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Arm or Jaw pain

Immediately move to the hospital, if you see these symptoms along with neck pain.

Meningitis – 

Meningitis is an inflammation of the thin tissue that edges the brain and spinal cord. In this condition, people who have meningitis, suffer from a fever and a headache and often experience a stiff neck.

It could be fatal and risky at the same time, so immediately take the medical help if you experience these symptoms.

Other causes

Other causes might include the following

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis – This condition causes pain and swelling of the joints and when these things occur in the neck area, pain in the neck occurs. Apply Ayurvedic oil for relief of neck pain and inflammation caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis.
  • Osteoporosis – This problem leads to the weakening of bones and small fractures. This problem mostly occurs in the hands or knees but it can also target the neck area.
  • Fibromyalgia– This is a condition that leads to muscle pain throughout the body, especially in the neck and shoulder area.
  • Spondylosis– Cervical discs can degenerate with time and is known as Spondylosis. It narrows the space between the vertebrae and adds to stress in your joints.

Spinal Stenosis– This problem occurs when the spinal column narrows and causes pressure on the spinal cord and on the nerve roots. This happens due to long-term inflammation caused by conditions like Arthritis.

In the rare case scenario, neck pain can be caused due to following reasons:

  • Tumours
  • Cancer of the spine
  • Infection
  • Abscesses

Effective Remedies for Neck pain

Exercise  –  Exercise helps greatly in relieving neck pain. Stretching exercises also make the neck flexible and reduce stiffness. Doing strengthening exercises help in improving the strength of abdominal muscles as poor stomach muscles can cause your neck curve forward and upper back to curve backward.

Yoga- Stress tends to induce muscle tension, so relax your mind and muscles by doing yoga and by performing some specific asanas.

  • Bharadvajasana- This twisting pose relieves the neck and shoulder tension and helps alleviate the pain.
  • Marjariasana – This cat posed asana stretches out your spine and back muscles to relieve neck pain.
  • Uttana Shishosana- This asana extends the spine like Marjariasana and increases blood to the neck and head.
  • Balasana- The Balasana also known as child pose is a simple yoga asana to gently stretch the neck and back.
  • Savasana- This simple yoga asana relieves the stress and helps to calm the mind and body.

Ayurvedic Oil- Ayurveda has a healing effect for almost every problem and has the potential of healing joints and muscle pain effectively.

Neck pain can be effectively treated with ayurvedic oils that leave a soothing effect on the muscles and joints. Apply Dr. Ortho oil or apply neck pain relief gel for relief of neck pain.

So these are some possible cause of neck pain along with a detailed description of some effective home remedies.
