Headache is a common problem. People of all age groups can suffer from this issue. Sometimes headaches can cause unbearable pain along with nausea and vomiting. The main reason for it is stress, worries, fear, restlessness, sinus problems, lack of sleep and dehydration.
Most of the people choose medicines to get rid of their problem. However, some easy and simple home remedies can provide enough relief.
Here are simple solutions that can help you get rid of severe headache.
Drink Enough Amount of Water :
Sometimes headache can be due to dehydration. So, in such case you can simply get relief from the pain by rehydrating your body.
You need to simply drink a glass of water at the first sign of a headache and continue taking small sips throughout the day. Along with water, you can also have juices and other beverages. Moreover, drinking sports drink is also a good option. The electrolytes present in sports drink can treat headaches caused by tension and dehydration. When you are suffering from the severe headache, stay away from drinks like alcohol.
Ice Pack :
Placing a cold compress like an ice pack on your forehead will numb the pain.it helps to shrink the blood vessels and improve circulation to the area. This particular remedy works well for the people who suffer from the headache duet to stress or sinus problems.
You need to wrap some ice cubes and crushed ice in a thin towel and then hold it against your forehead for a few minutes. Remember; never apply ice directly on your skin.
Apple Cider Vinegar :
Both apple and apple cider vinegar are the right choice to reduce headache. Both the ingredients help restore the acid-alkaline balance in the body. Moreover, smell of green apples can also reduce the headache due to migraine. When you wake up in the morning with a headache, eat a piece of apple sprinkled with some salt and also drink some warm water.
Alternatively, you can also fill a large bowl with steaming hot water and add 3 to 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to it. After this, hold a towel over your head and take in the steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
Another good option is to add 2 teaspoons of some apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Adding a little honey and lemon juice is also good way to give some nice flavour. For the effective results drink it 2 or 3 times a day.
The soothing and calming properties of peppermint can help treat headaches. You can prepare herbal tea by adding 1 teaspoon of dried peppermint to a cup of boiling water. Cover and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain and add some honey to give it some flavour.
Alternatively, you can also use peppermint oil to gently massage your temples, back and neck for instant pain relief. Inhaling the soothing aroma of peppermint steam can heal headache.
Ginger is high in anti-inflammatory properties so, can help in headache. It also helps relax the blood vessels in the head, activates natural opiates in the brain and reduces swelling in the brain that further decreases the pain.
To reduce the headache and reduce the inflammation in the body simply drink ginger tea 3 times a day.
Eucalyptus Oil :
This essential oil has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps provide soothing effect and relax tense muscles contribute to a headache. You need to simple massage your forehead and temples with eucalyptus oil for 15 to 20 minutes.
Alternatively, you can also use coconut or almond oil.
Cinnamon is an effective herb that can effectively treat headache. This herb is good to heal headache which is cause by exposure to cold air.
For the right use, you have to make the powder of cinnamon sticks and add some water to a make thick paste. And then apply to your forehead and temples and lie down for 30 minutes. And finally wash off the forehead with lukewarm water.
So, whenever you suffer from the headache you must try these effective remedies. It is always better to go for some ayurvedic solutions rather than spending money on heavy dosage of medicines.
